Didactics
The didactic activity of the Clinical Department of Orthopedics includes educating students of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in Zabrze in the subject of orthopedics and traumatology; educating students of Medical Rescue in the following subjects: emergency medicine, medical rescue activities, rehabilitation after injuries; educating English-speaking students in Surgery (Orthopedics), conducting specialization courses as part of the specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Locomotor System.
Science
The Clinical Department of Orthopedics conducts research in the field of traumatology of the musculoskeletal system as well as chronic orthopedic diseases.
The main issues in the field of traumatology that the clinic deals with are the problems of patients with multi-site and multi-organ injuries - spinal and pelvic fractures and complicated limb fractures.
In the field of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the basic subject in which the clinic specializes are treatments on the hip joint (endoprosthesis, arthroscopy), knee joint (endoprosthesis: total and hemi, arthroscopic with reconstruction of joint ligaments and treatments of joint cartilage defects using membranes), shoulder joint (reverse endoprosthetics and arthrocopies with rotator cuff reconstruction) as well as elbow and ankle joint procedures.
